Engineering Technician

Description

We have an opportunity in our Engineering & Quality Department for an Engineering Technician.  This position will focus on Engineering & Quality activities in the back end of the shop and will interact extensively with the Shipping Department, Final Finishing and NDT areas.  We are looking for a disciplined and motivated individual with a willingness to gain knowledge in a wide variety of areas.  This position will be required to maintain product flow while seeking solutions to technical or production issues.

• Coordinate technical  requirements of outside services including heat treat, machining, testing, etc.  This involves transfer of requirements from the shop floor and Engineering/Quality documents to PO requisitions.
• Evaluation of product prior to outside services and upon return to verify requirements have been met.
• Facilitate flow and organization of material testing.
• Evaluate dimensions of castings and machined parts.
• Audit internal work instructions and external vendor audits as required by Quality Department.
• Coordinate "New Part" and weld qualification test plate tracking, address issues and seek information and assistance to keep product flowing.
• Support process & product development through documentation of sample sheets & work instructions.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated time management skills, strong work ethic, motivation and discipline in order to facilitate.
• Able to follow written and verbal instruction with minimal supervision.
• Experience with basic measurement tools.
• High attention to detail and desire to be a team player.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Power Point) or similar, comfortable with computer and usage and willingness to learn new programs.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent, post High School education is preferred.
• Manufacturing or Quality experience in a production environment preferred.
• Experience with Continuous Improvement or Lean Techniques and/or willingness to improve our processes desired.
