Healthcare Data Analyst
Position Location: Onsite in Madison, WI; Hybrid or Remote (must reside within the state of Wisconsin or be willing to relocate to meet this requirement)
Hours: Position is budgeted to work 32 hours per week (.8 FTE)
Reports directly to: Program Manager, Healthcare Transformation

Essential duties and responsibilities:

- Work with task teams and other analysts to identify the analytical needs of the tasks.
- Act as the analytical resource to task teams to look at the “big picture” of the project and ask the appropriate questions to aid in the planning of the analytical approach.
- Develop and implement analytic work plans (in coordination with task teams as appropriate) according to criteria established by the contract in order to meet the needs of the task teams.
- Develop measure specifications, identify data sources, and develop data collection tools.
- Identify and resolve data collection and processing problems.
- Ensure the accuracy, validity and reliability of data and data processes.
- Write and update statistical analysis programs used in processing data and performing statistical analysis.
- Analyze clinical, administrative, and patient-reported data.
- Evaluate project data using appropriate and accepted research methodology.
- Write processes and documentation for methods and analyses used.
- Produce maps, graphs and tables for use in reports and presentations as needed.
- Convey findings/conclusions/results in language appropriate for the audience (internal and external).
- Complete analytic deliverables, meet contract requirements, and ensure compliance with relevant state and federal laws and regulations.
- Stay up-to-date on necessary subject matter specific to analytic needs, and learn new software or skills as necessary.
- Serve as analytic expert on various proposal responses, planning committees, strategic scenario and planning, and other related committees or activities as the need arises.
- Serve as the healthcare data expert; staying abreast of healthcare data trends as is relates to population and community health data, including health disparities data.
- Assist to, using data generated from the work of organization, quantifiably communicate outcomes and impact (internally and externally).
- Promote MetaStar’s continuous quality improvement (CQI) philosophy within the team (i.e. team building, communication, process analysis) as well as between organizational teams.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to successfully perform this job at the minimum level. Additional requirements are listed as preferred.
Required:
- MPH or MS in biostatistics/statistics or other quantitative field, or a Bachelor’s in statistics or other quantitative field plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience with MS Office is required.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to manage and work with large data sets.
- Proficiency in data manipulation (cleaning, transforming, blending, etc.) and the production of user-friendly tables and charts from raw data.
- Leadership Skills: Relationship management, project management, time management, critical thinking, strong communication with internal and external customers, and effective writing skills.
- Ability to work well independently and within a team structure.
- Valid Driver’s License or ability and means to travel as required.
- Interest and availability for in-state and overnight travel (10%).
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required for all employees.
Preferred:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience (or demonstrated aptitude) with computer-based statistical applications preferred.
- Working knowledge of SAS Viya and Hadoop/HIVER are preferred.
- Return on investment, advanced statistics, API and FHIR, Tableau and Python programming experience is a plus.
- Experience with process improvement and/or quality improvement methodologies preferred.
- Experience with skilled nursing home data sets is preferred.
