MetLife seeks an Investment Analyst to join our private equity unit (PEU) managing more than $13 billion of assets on behalf of our general account and affiliated entities. The Investment Analyst position is a unique opportunity to work directly with senior management in a small, flat investment organization that has generated strong long-term returns for its constituents. MetLife’s portfolio is invested globally across a broad range of private equity sub sectors, including private equity (LBOs), venture capital, growth equity, energy, distressed debt, secondary funds and equity co-investments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist and participate in fund and equity co-investments due diligence including review of dataroom, detailed portfolio review and analysis, and fundamental research of portfolio holdings.
  • Actively monitor our existing funds and update the PEU with meeting notes (highlighting major changes to the underlying portfolio - exits, new investments, value drivers / underperformers, org. changes, fundraising).
  • Preparation of investment memos and presentations for investment committee.
  • Meet with existing GP’s to receive updates to evaluate investment progress, team/organizational changes, strategy, and to receive updates on the state of the markets and potential investment opportunities.
  • Assist in the completion of sector reviews for our Special Situations, LBO, and Venture Capital portfolio segments.
  • Analyze and monitor existing portfolio relationships through annual meeting attendance and monitoring of quarterly reports.
  • Track new opportunities with external investment managers.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • 0 – 2 years of Financial Services Experience and/or Internships.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Detail-oriented individual with keen focus on performance and results.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Preferred in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or similar analytical/quantitative field.
