This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. May require OCONUS travel.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Exempt employees must have the ability to be on-call and available outside of typical working hours, as business needs require.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Must be able to accomplish any and all duties with little or no assistance. Must have good command of the English language; oral and written.
Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time.

Essential Functions Statement
- Provide SOF exercise expertise to support the planning and execution of exercises in the SOUTHCOM AOR.
- Coordinate with external forces such as SOF, Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Partner Nations for participation in the exercises.
- Work with participating units to accomplish tasks such as field training, logistical support activities, amphibious landings, airborne and ground maneuvers, air operations, maritime operations, and Special Operations activities.
- Maintain currency, relevancy, and awareness of SOF and joint enterprise training requirements through research of past and current operations, joint exercise instructions, and SOF doctrine.
- Participate in working groups, conferences, and meetings to support unit exercise requirements.
- Maintain cooperative relationships with operational and strategic level planners and leaders in the USSOCOM HQs, USSOCOM Components, USSOUTHCOM, USSOUTHCOM Components, and other organizations to facilitate a synchronized effort in exercise design and execution across the community of interest.
- Support exercise design, Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) planning, scenario scripting, training, and observations where necessary.
- Create or review training events concepts, to include purpose, objectives, broad scenario characteristics, processes, and products to support the mission and objectives of the training event’s sponsor.
- Execute other duties as required to support the SOCSOUTH J37 team in the accomplishment of their duties and responsibilities related to training and exercises.
- Travel CONUS and OCONUS for exercise planning and coordination; estimated 45-60 days annually within the USSOUTHCOM AOR. This travel varies year by year based on exercise locations and frequency, as some exercises occur every other year vice annually.
- 10 years prior military experience, SOF experience required
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience serving in a command, senior enlisted advisor, or primary staff billet in a SOF HQs (USSOCOM/TSOC/Component), Service, Joint Staff, OSD, or 2-4 Star level Service/GCC HQs
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience directly interfacing with senior staff (O6/GOFO) at the TSOC, Component, GCC, Service, Interagency level
- Excellent presentation, communication, and organization skills
- Must have Spanish language proficiency to pass annual DLPT with a minimum score of 2/2
