Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position manages the HR Team in the York location, including but not limited to the HR Generalist, Safety Specialist, and interns. Direct reports range from 2-5 depending on the time of year.
Position Summary
The Human Resource Manager will lead the routine functions of the Employee Experience including but not limited to interviewing potential employees, administering payroll, engagement activities, performance reviews, and enforcing company policies and practices. They will also be responsible for coaching and training leaders to support the company mission and strategy, our core values, and employee policies and procedures.
Job Description
- Select, train, and develop a team of high performing HR professionals
- Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
- Provides support and guidance to HR Generalist, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
- Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Assists the Training Department with learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
- Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Executes employee engagement activities and assesses their effectiveness with management.
- Uses reporting and data to draw evidence-based conclusions to generate innovative ideas to continue driving a World Class employee experience
- Continuously improves on cyclical employee programs
- Drives a safe working culture at their facility with their Safety Specialist and in alignment with the company’s EHS Manager
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3 years of human resource experience preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- 1 years of experience directly managing others
- Proven strong code of ethics and alignment to company values
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficiency with working through an HRIS.
Preferred Qualifications
- SHRM or HRCI certification highly desired.
- Experience in ADP Workforce Now is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (specifically Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
Job Setting & Physical Demands
This position will require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. To perform the job successfully the candidate must be able to use a computer and other standard office equipment such as phones, copiers, fax machines, etc. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities. This role is largely sedentary, however administrative duties such as filing are required. This would require the ability to lift files, open cabinets, bend or stand as necessary. Fluency in the English language and the ability to see, speak, hear, read and write are required.
