Job Functions:
This position is responsible for developing and supervising all nutrition and food services to enhance the quality of customer service to all our clients and the Promiseland Children. The Kitchen Manager is expected to provide high quality services in a cheerful, timely manner and by communicating, coordinating, and cooperating with others to attain these goals. To plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the kitchen in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility. To assure that quality nutritional services are provided daily and that the kitchen is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner. To serve as a key team member working with leadership, staff, vendors, volunteers and other entities to further the Ministries’ mission and vision.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible for creating nutritional menus for our clients and for our partner provider meals. Responsible for accurate spreadsheets pertaining to menus and food provided to our partners.
- Works to provide quality nutritional services and to maintain all cafeteria areas (Family Grill) in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.
- Reviews and tracks all related expenses and operates within the approved budget.
- Completes the Equipment Purchase Forms for new equipment.
- Assists in the Budget planning process.
- Responsible for on-going training of Kitchen staff.
- Responsible to post schedules, time allocation records and attendance records.
- Attends Daily Stand-Up Meetings when available, such as temperature and quality control checks.
- Completes KPI forms and performance evaluations on employees in a timely manner. (Sanitation, Dining Room Observation, etc)
- Works closely with the Volunteer Services department to establish guidelines and develop plans to maximize the impact of volunteers within the Food Services Department.
- Meet personal goals and actively contribute to the achievement of the team and organizational goals as stated measured by Key Performance Indicators and as stated in the annual plan. Support the team in other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. completed. Certified Food Safety Manager certificate is required. Prefer 4 – 6 years of experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital cafeteria or high volume restaurant. Good computer and clerical skills to include Microsoft Office programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel Spreadsheet.
Skill Requirements:
Must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary team framework; must be able to communicate effectively in English both orally and written; dependable; ability to plan and organize work and attend to detail. Must demonstrate a heart for the ministry of serving poor and homeless families. The position requires a degree of maturity, sensitivity to issues of faith, cross cultural and diversity issues, and the social skill to handle job-related matters in a professional and diplomatic manner. Requires the ability to supervise interns or volunteers. Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients, staff, and volunteers.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to tolerate outdoor temperatures consistent with Florida climate and endure prolonged standing/walking/bending/stooping and stretching. Must be able to relocate materials in a safe and proper manner. Must have adequate hearing and speaking ability as to take part in and provide sound oral communication and information. Must have the physical, emotional, and spiritual stamina to handle job-related issues and stress. Must be able to lift 50 lbs or more.
Other:
Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States. Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Valid FL drivers license with a good driving record and insured vehicle in order to transport self and orders when necessary. Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule during strategic and holiday periods of the year including weeknights, weekends, and particularly Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Must pass applicable pre-employment background screening procedures.
