What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Foundation Communications position at MGA?
The Metropolitan Golf Association, located in Elmsford, N.Y., is seeking an individual to join the MGA’s communications team to develop and produce multimedia projects to support all functions of the Association and, specifically, the MGA Foundation’s charitable initiatives. Candidate should have 3 years of work experience in a related field and be a creative, energetic idea generator. He/she must be eager to learn, offer ideas, and possess strong communication skills.
What you bring to the MGA:
- A self-starter and idea generator, willing to work hands-on and oversee projects from start to finish.
- Strong verbal and writing skills
- Photography experience
- Graphic design skills and knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
- Social media experience
- Experience with video filming, editing, and producing content for digital platforms (with Adobe Premier)
- Must be flexible, willing to work long days, especially during the golf season, with the ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines. Enthusiasm and willingness to travel locally throughout the tristate area
- Ability to operate as part of a team in a service-oriented environment
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to interact positively with MGA staff and leadership, membership, volunteers, press, and the general public
- Knowledge of and interest in golf, both on the amateur and professional level (ideally on a local level)
The position’s primary duties include:
- Contribute to written and digital content across all MGA platforms, with a focus on telling the story of the MGA’s charitable Foundation.
- Manage and update the website and social media content for the MGAF and two caddie scholarship funds – MGACSF and LICSF.
- Produce marketing and promotional materials, including ads, special event displays, e-blasts, website, and social media graphics.
- Develop content related to scholarship announcements and develop spotlights on program participants; develop and contribute to annual reporting for CSFs.
- Assist the Director of Communications with content, research, and organization of The Met Golfer Magazine, the Association’s official publication (produced 5x/year).
- Attend MGA Foundation events throughout the Met Area.
- Attend additional MGA events such as educational events, member Play Days, and Championships, as needed.
- Contribute to MGA publications, including Annual Report and Media Guide, as well as a digital magazine.
Individuals must be highly organized and be able to meet deadlines, make positive contributions to the creative process and work as part of a team. A car is necessary, as travel to locations throughout New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut is required.
