What are the responsibilities and job description for the Permanent Charge Nurse position at MGB?
The Permanent Charge Nurse is designated for a given patient care area to oversee daily operations and to work collaboratively with the Nursing Manager in planning and implementing patient care. The Charge Nurse is responsible for overseeing customer service and serving as a role model for staff. The Charge Nurse is responsible for the daily assignment of staff, patient flow and shift to shift decision making regarding staffing. The Charge Nurse participates with the Nurse Manager in the development of the patient care clinical standards, evaluation of outcomes and development of improvement initiatives. The Chare Nurse reports to the Nurse Manager.
Skills:
Required:
* Demonstrates clinical experience in the assigned area
* Utilizes current concepts of nursing practice in the management of patient care
* Demonstrates the knowledge and skill to organize, coordinate, and participate in the evaluation of care delivery
* Demonstrates effective interpersonal and leadership skills necessary to promote effective working relationships with all members of the healthcare team.
* Demonstrates the ability to deal effectively with stress relating to the changing organizational climate, personnel and patient care issue
Experience:
Required: 3-5 years of relevant clinical experience
Education/Degree Requirements:
Required: Completion of a Nursing degree
Licensure, Certification or Registration:
Required: Current license to practice as a RN in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Preferred: Specialty certification in relevant clinical area
