Position Summary:
It is the responsibility of the Lounge Manager to successfully run assigned lounge(s) by overseeing all front of house operations and entertainment while performing excellent guest service. All duties are to be performed in accordance with federal, state, local laws, regulations, and ordinances, as well as department and Company policies, practices, and procedures, within the framework and intent of the MGM Grand Detroit Mission Statement.
Essential Functions:
- Manages the operations business plans for assigned lounge(s) by surveying demand; scheduling entertainment; identifying and evaluating competitors; preparing financials and marketing plans; and establishing sales projections, analyses, and estimates.
- Manages the development and implementation of the MGM Grand Detroit lounge entertainment strategy. Works with internal departmental staff, operations staff, and leadership team members to evaluate strategy and adjust accordingly.
- In conjunction with Marketing, develops marketing plans to obtain long and short-term goals for areas of operation. Develops a comprehensive 60-day to 90-day rolling calendar and annual calendar, which include competitor events, to maximize exposure in local, state and regional markets.
- Schedules and supervises all Environmental Entertainment, Lounge Bands, Special Event and Party Bands, DJ's, MC's, Greeters, Models and on-site entertainers for assigned lounge(s). Oversees relationship with external agencies and consultants. In conjunction with Legal, Purchasing, and executive management, selects agencies and vendors; negotiates contract terms and conditions; and ensures contract fulfillment.
- Develops strategies for increasing sales and profitability for assigned lounge(s) within management scope.
- Acts as Host to Top Tier Travel, F&B, Lifestyle, Meetings, etc, as well as influence group events and media.
- Manages assigned lounge(s) team(s) to include efficient staffing, employee development and training, performance management, and policy enforcement.
- Promotes and maintains a professional, friendly, prompt, accurate, and courteous atmosphere while providing the highest level of service to all guests by exhibiting S.H.O.W. Service Basic Standards, including smiling, greeting, and making eye contact, while staying alert to their needs. Responds effectively to guest inquiries related to MGM Grand Detroit and the downtown Detroit area.
- Frequently interacts with guests to ensure satisfaction and enjoyment of assigned Lounge(s). Resolves guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refers the matter to management. Notifies supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 21 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, business management, or related field preferred.
- Five years supervisory/management experience in a food and beverage venue. Strong beverage knowledge. Experience in a three-diamond (AAA Rating) or above-rated property preferred.
- Experience in multi-tasking of projects and project management.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Keyboarding and typing skills.
- Excellent guest service and hospitality skills.
- Strong problem solving and listening skills.
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Bilingual abilities preferred.
- Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
- Ability to perform various activities such as constant standing, walking, frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and squatting.
- Ability to work in an environment where pipe, cigar, and cigarette smoking is permitted.
- Ability to function and act independently.
- Ability to work well with people, in a team environment, and to communicate effectively both written & oral.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, under short time constraints, and within established deadlines.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Obtain/maintain alcohol awareness certification and food handler's permit.
- Obtain/maintain Michigan Gaming Control Board Level 2 Occupational License.
