This position performs serving activities within banquet, catering and concession operations with primary responsibility for ensuring food and beverage safety, quality, consistency and excellent guest service. This includes but is not limited to providing professional, prompt, and consistent food and beverage service to catering clientele; completing set up and break down of break service tables, counters, buffets and dining tables as specified on banquet event orders; checking regularly for guests needs; and answering any questions or concerns.
Additional responsibilities include ladling soups, tossing salads, brewing coffee and tea, popping popcorn, cutting wedding cakes, traying salads and desserts, retrieving and transporting equipment and supplies, unloading hot boxes, loading and unloading catering trucks, and performing other services as determined by type of event.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures a positive guest experience, building loyalty, frequency of patronage, and sales through oversight and personal interactions.
- Ensures proper set up and break down of break service tables, counters, buffets and dining tables as specified on banquet event orders. Cleans and polishes glassware, flatware, and equipment.
- Collects and transports food items such as dressings, butters, and desserts, as well as supplies from the kitchen via carts, speed racks, hot and cold boxes to serving stations and event rooms.
- Provides positive guest recognition and relations through personal performance and attention to guest history, including familiarizing himself/herself with regular patrons and VIP guests.
- Ladles soups, tosses salads, brews coffee and tea, pops popcorn, cuts wedding cakes, trays salads and desserts, retrieves necessary equipment or supplies, unloads hot boxes, and performs other services as determined by type of event. Serves ice water and other beverages to guests.
- Requests proper identification from guests when serving alcoholic beverages when legal age is questionable (under the age of 30). Consults with management on questionable identification. Monitors guest alcohol consumption and does not serve alcohol to intoxicated guests.
- Checks food and beverage orders for accuracy and presentation and ensures no blemishes exist on plates or glassware prior to serving. Serves food and beverages according to standards and to established service sequence using oval trays and cocktail trays.
- Pre-busses tables by removing china, glassware and flatware, replaces soiled table linens and sets tables with silverware, glassware and china according to departmental specifications.
- Transports dirty dishes/glassware from dining area to kitchen and/or breakdown stations and places items into proper cleaning receptacles such as glass racks and silverware bins.
- Completes event clean up, including but not limited to: sweeping, mopping, moving tables, rearranging chairs, removing soiled linen, and returning unused wine and liquor to the supervisor/manager.
- Cleans and organizes event rooms/spaces, storerooms, pantries and hallway areas. Properly stores and secures catering equipment/supplies. Maintains close communication with Manager regarding maintenance of all equipment, facilities, and supply needs.
- Communicates necessary information to Supervisor regarding guest count, product, usage, and additional items requested by the client for additional billing.
- Loads and unloads trucks for offsite catering events.
- Attends required meetings and training sessions as assigned/scheduled.
- Complies 100% with the facilities recycling and sustainability policies and programs.
- Exercises care, performs required maintenance and ensures all operating instructions, safety standards and guidelines are followed in relation to Morrissey Hospitality's equipment and/or facility assets.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a high-volume, high energy, upscale food and beverage environment.
- Working knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to food, safety, sanitation, and alcohol service.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of standing, walking, squatting, lifting and carrying at least 50 lbs. (food, beverages, trays, inventory, etc.) for extended periods of time for event execution, to knowledgeably and professionally respond to client and guest inquiries, to write emails and other correspondence,, and to work effectively in an office environment as well as a catering environment

- Alcohol training certification
