What are the responsibilities and job description for the Faculty, Speech position at Miami Dade College?
This faculty member teaches Speech Communication courses. This is a full-time Faculty (FAC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Teaches lecture and laboratory sections
- Evaluates students and performs career and academic advising
- Plans and organizes instructional materials to meet course objectives
- Participates in a variety of Departmental, Campus and College-wide programs, activities and committees and develops curricula
- Prepares and submits student information to Department Chairperson
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree in Communication with 18 graduate semester hours in Communication Theory and Research, Interpersonal and Intercultural Communication, Human Communication, Public Speaking, Argumentation and/or Persuasion; or Master’s degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Communication Theory and Research, Interpersonal and Intercultural Communication, Human Communication, Public Speaking, Argumentation and/or Persuasion.
- All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
- Familiarity with and use of collaborative learning techniques and student-centered methods of instruction
- Ability to function well in a technological environment and willing to use technological tools in instruction
- Possess excellent communication skills and ablity to communicate effectively with students with a wide range of skills
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well with students, faculty, staff and the community
- Ability to work in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
- Doctoral Stipend awarded in addition to base salary, as applicable
- Start date for this Faculty position is anticipated to start Fall 2023
Preferences
- Previous curriculum development and recruitment experience a plus.
