DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker seeks a Civil Engineering Associate to join the Land Development team in the Carlsbad, CA office.
The Civil Associate will be a Land Development design engineer responsible for all aspects of planning, design and plan preparation for a variety of transportation, residential, commercial and mixed-use development projects. Responsibilities include civil design for streets (road widening, traffic calming and roundabouts), sewer, water and storm drain improvement plans, hydrology and hydraulic calculations, and rough and precise grading.
- Coordinate with design teams, agency contacts and Project Manager on delivering development design packages
- Perform civil engineering design on land development projects including site design, site grading, earthwork balance, drainage, utilities, sanitary collection and water distribution systems, storm water management, erosion and sediment control designs/plans. Additionally some airport projects out of our San Diego office
- Collaborate with multiple civil disciplines working as a team to solve design challenges.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- B.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
- EIT Certificate
- 2 years of related experience
- Proficient in using AutoCAD and/or Microstation for plan production
- Proficient in preparing design calculations and quantity take-offs
- Reliable method of transportation for project site visits and client meetings
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
PREFERENCES
- Experience using drainage software for hydrology and hydraulics calculations
- Some experience working with local agencies in the greater San Diego area
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $57,000-$118,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
