Location Description
Michael Foods, Inc., located in Bloomfield, Nebraska, is one of our only cage free facilities. The facility is located three miles outside of Northeast Nebraska's busiest community. Bloomfield is a haven for those who prefer small-town life over city living and is located less than 30 miles from recreation areas where you can enjoy fishing, boating, kayaking and camping. Our location produces liquid egg product that is sent to our other facilities for further processing.
Responsibilities
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Processing area set up two hours before start up.
- Able to put cooling press back together in the morning if needed.
- Check transfer and clean transfers every hour.
- Clean screens and washers and dump inedible if needed.
- Preventative maintenance on washer, drive belt, rod conveyors and all equipment in processing area and breaking room.
- Check belts and belt transition corners.
- Maintenance on washer belt drives, belts, rod conveyors and all equipment in processing area and breaking room.
- Shut down processing at the end of the day.
- Check shell extractor in the morning and through out the day.
- Keep spare parts inventory.
- Maintain housekeeping standards.
- Jig cups and crackers.
- Operate shell dryer.
- Load out inedible when needed.
- Alert supervisor if spare parts are needed.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
Experience:
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add and subtract and to multiply and divide. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
Licenses, certificates, registrations:
- Forklift License
Other skills and abilities:
- Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions.
- Free of any breathing or asthmatic conditions as dusty and/or humid conditions can prevail.
- Have good mechanical knowledge.
- Be able to work weekends and nights and be able to work unusual hours when work dictates.
- Have a tool pouch and a basic set of mechanical tools.
- Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds.
- Ability to learn maintenance and operation of industrial machinery such as ammonia compressor, boiler and steam system, air compressor, etc.
- Ability to learn how or know how to weld stainless steel is a plus.
