What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pasteurizer ESL, 3rd shift position at Michael Foods Inc.?
Responsibilities:

- Shadows senior Pasteurizer Operators to perform hands-on pasteurizing duties
- Controls and monitors equipment that pasteurizes ESL liquid egg product, recording starting time, and adjusting temperature controls to bring temperatures to specified level. Recording all relevant data as it relates to processing- Control set points for various products; adjust homogenizer and PD pump settings as needed; understand relationships between temperature; time and flow and how it effects processing.
- Thorough understanding of glycol cooling systems and operations of same as it relates to processing
- Thorough knowledge of equipment and troubleshooting to correct processing deficiencies- ability to recognize and react in short time.
- Creates and/or maintains the required reports, logs, records and charts
- Alerts the Supervisor when major mechanical problems occur, and reports any system abnormalities to reduce the risk of, and damage to, the system or product
- Hooks up tankers for unloading product and directing it to the correct silo.
- Proactively coordinates with Machine Operator III the status of the CIP system, to ensure the correct hook up and start time of the production line
- Cleans tankers, pasteurizer, silos and pumps, and hooks up all CIP lines
- Actively engages in continuous improvement efforts
- Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience in a food production area of plant or equivalent prefer but not required
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- General knowledge of chemicals
- Basic Computer skills, necessary to operate equipment controls
- Be a self-starter, Ability to plan activities and work independently
