Job Summary:
We are seeking a Legal Secretary to join our team. The Legal Secretary will provide administrative support to attorneys and legal professionals, ensuring the smooth operation of the law office. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Duties:
- Prepare and draft legal documents, such as pleadings, contracts, and correspondence
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases
- Interview clients and witnesses to gather necessary information
- Transcribe dictations and prepare accurate written transcripts
- Maintain document management systems and organize case files
- Schedule appointments, court dates, and meetings for attorneys
- Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and witness lists
- Perform data entry tasks to update case information in databases
- Proofread legal documents for accuracy and completeness
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and emails
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar administrative role within a law firm or legal department
- Proficient in using document management systems and legal software
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask
- Proficient in conducting legal research using online resources
- Familiarity with proofreading techniques for legal documents
