Position: Supervisor of Building and Grounds
Kingston Community Schools seeks a community oriented person with management, organization, and communication skills, to be a working Supervisor of the district’s Custodians and the buildings and grounds. In addition, the Supervisor will be responsible for maintaining and repairing all district equipment, facilities, and infrastructure.
Title: Supervisor of Maintenance/Building and Grounds (Administrative)
Reports to: Superintendent
Supervises: 4 custodians and any additional building and grounds workers
Wages: $50,000 starting salary
Benefits: District paid $1500 annual annuity, District paid contributions to retirement system, Health Care Benefits, Vision/Dental, LTD
Additional Benefits: Paid vacation 10 days and 10 Personal Business/Sick days
Clothing allowance: $200 annual allowance for clothing and shoes. (Work boots, coat/jacket, work shirts etc.)

The Supervisor of Maintenance and Grounds is responsible for maintaining the district’s property in all aspects. This includes all buildings and their contents and all outdoor facilities. The Supervisor will also manage and supervise the custodial crew and any additional employees related to buildings and grounds.
The Primary function of the Supervisors job is to maintain the district in such a way to promote the health and safety of all students and staff and maintain compliance with all regulatory obligations of the federal, state, and local governments. The Supervisor may also be responsible for performing additional duties not stipulated below as needed. These The Supervisor will schedule and assign work, recruit and assign substitute custodians and evaluate Custodial Staff annually

HS Diploma or Equivalent Required- Degree in Facility Management and/or Specialized training in Building Maintenance or Facilities Management Preferred. Skilled trade certifications are also a plus.
Experience in Buildings and Grounds or Facilities Management preferred. Knowledge of proper cleaning methods. Experience with power tools and equipment related to the job is a must. Successful experience working as an effective member of a team.
Additional Requirements:
Must be able to comply with background checks, including fingerprints, as required by state and federal law. Ability to present a positive image of the organization to members of the community. Visual acuity within professionally determined normal ranges, with correction if needed. Manual dexterity sufficient to: manipulate equipment and tools. Must have effective organizational, problem solving, and time management skills. Ability to learn and comprehend information from Procedures Manuals and other materials. Must be able to physically move through buildings and classrooms. Ability to lift 55 pounds is required. Must meet the following personal qualifications: emotional maturity, flexibility, patience, good personal hygiene, and physical and mental health that do not interfere with responsibilities. Knowledge of the challenges of working in a school climate. Effective oral and written communication skills.
Tasks that involve possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids or tissues. Tasks that involve handling implements or tools and operating equipment. This job involves standing for long periods as well as stooping, squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing and climbing. Must be able to withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions. Wearing of protective equipment, such as latex gloves, safety glasses and other, per OSHA/MIOSHA regulations are required.
