Responsibilities:
- Direct autonomous patient interaction
- Takes medical histories and performs targeted physical examinations, including vital signs
- Prepares and administers allergy immunotherapy injections
- Reads allergy immunotherapy injection site reactions
- Reacts appropriately in patient reaction situations; informs medical providers and/or other clinical staff as necessary to mitigate adverse reactions.
- Assures patient stay for required observation time post allergy immunotherapy injections
- Performs specialized breathing testing, including spirometry
- Performs allergy skin testing via skin prick and intradermal testing methods
- Performs mixing of patient allergy serum for both subcutaneous and sublingual immunotherapy
- Performs penicillin allergy testing, including skin testing and oral challenges
- Explains diagnostic and treatment procedures to patients
- Provides guidance on allergy avoidance and specifics of allergy immunotherapy
- Maintains allergy immunotherapy rooms, including supply and patient serum
- Maintains accurate patient records and documentation
- Maintains patient, employee, and clinic confidentiality
- Uses computer applications
- Answers telephones
- Updates and files patient medical records
- Code and fills out insurance forms
- Schedules appointments
- Arranges for laboratory services
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is required
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent customer service and computer skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Friendly, personable demeanor
- Detail oriented
- Ability to multi-task
- A minimum experience of one year experience in the medical field is preferred but not required.
- Medical assistant certification is a plus, but not required.
