As an Embedded Solution Engineer focused on Reference Designs, you will be responsible for defining, implementing, and/or supporting reference designs that deliver the freedom to innovate to the world’s leading 5G, Edge Computing/IoT, Data Centers, E-Mobility, Sustainability and ADAS/Autonomous Driving clients. Overview Primary responsibilities include driving design wins to revenue with Microchip partners and Microchip’s internal reference designs by providing in-depth engineering support including creation of reference designs, proof of concept designs, and first bring up of client system boards. Some specific embedded expertise is required, and visiting, training, and advising customers may also be part of the job. Responsibilities Develop or adapt schematic diagrams & PCB layouts for reference designs to address emerging market segments such as 5G, Edge Computing/IoT, Data Centers, E-Mobility, Sustainability and ADAS/Autonomous Driving Specify test software or scripts for use in the production of reference designs Prepare written documents such as user guides, technical articles, training workshops and promotional material that explain how to design with Microchip devices within emerging market segments Effectively manage prioritization of many opportunities and customers Travel to receive training or to support other regions as needed Work effectively with other regions and divisional applications. On-site fitness center Quarterly Employee Cash Bonus Plan Restricted Stock Grant Employee Stock Purchase Plan Tuition Reimbursement 401K Retirement Savings Plan Paid Time Off Vacation Pay Absence Time - "Sick Pay" 10 Paid Holidays Requirements/Qualifications: Mandatory Skills BS or BSc in Electrical Engineering or equivalent Minimum of 3 years of design experience of 8 & 32-bit microcontroller based embedded systems, hardware design, high speed serial communication interfaces/integrity along with their development tools Minimum of 3 years of experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Altium Proficient with laboratory test & measurement devices such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, DC power supplies, signal generators, arbitrary waveform generators, logic analyzers, etc. Excellent verbal and written skills including ability to write and present clear and concise technical documentation in English Proficient in MSOffice including Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint Posses an eager attitude toward learning new skills & technology Work effectively in a team environment Ability to establish trust and credibility Ability to operate under minimal guidance and assume personal responsibility/accountability Preferred Skills: Knowledge of and relevant design experience with embedded C programming Familiar with wired communication standards such as: I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet, etc. Familiar with wireless communication protocols such as: Bluetooth and Wireless LAN Familiar with encryption techniques such as AES & ECC Familiar with 5G, IoT, data center, electric vehicle systems hardware and software Travel Time: 0% - 25% Physical Attributes: Handling, Hearing, Reaching, Talking, Works Alone, Works Around Others Physical Requirements: Physical Requirements Text (USA Only) 90% sitting and 10% standing and 100% indoors Pay Range: The expected base salary range for this position, if filled in Colorado, is $77,000-$169,000, dependent on specific skills and work experience. We offer a total compensation package that ranks among the best in the industry. It consists of competitive base pay, restricted stock units, and quarterly bonus payments.
