Job Summary :
The Senior Vice President (SVP) of Operations is a critical and strategic leadership role for the company, responsible for the company’s distribution centers, staffing, training, certifications, OSHA compliance, overall distribution processes and establishing a scalable distribution capability.
The VP also oversees all communications and negotiations with the company’s carriers, equipment suppliers and leads capacity planning, process improvement, DC layout design, project cost / planning and execution.
In addition, the VP oversees the Inventory Control department across all facilities and is responsible for inventory accuracy and control as well as interfacing with key suppliers and customers to improve and streamline processes, and drive greater operational efficiencies and connectivity.
This leader must be hands on as well as a strategic thinker who can anticipate issues and future needs with a fast-growing business.
He / she must possess the ability to develop a strategy and provide clear direction to the team and drive positive engagement to ensure success.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES, JOB DUTIES
- Provide leadership, education, support, motivation and direction to senior management and direct reports.
- Develop strategic plan to advance the organization’s distribution objectives to drive customers excellence, increased revenue, profitability, and growth.
- Develop and implement an operational roadmap (people, process and Technology) to enable the efficient scaling of the business in support of the business growth plans
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures to customers facing SLAs and ensure that systems data are maintained, accurate, and cost effective.
- Lead Freight Carriers Negotiation in Partnership with Finance and Supply Chain and manage their day-to-day operational performance.
- Develop and manage annual operating budgets for warehouse and distribution in conjunction with the CEO and Finance team.
- Work with IT and Continuous improvement to help define and deploy the appropriate IT systems, automation, and process improvements to support unrivalled customer experience, higher volume, future growth, and best in class facilities.
- Define and achieve goals and KPI’s for each team.
- Work with sales and production teams to evaluate inventory and throughput capacity requirements.
- Oversee all IC functions, processes, and operations.
- Oversee the scheduling of physical inventory and cycle counting in all facilities.
- Perform analysis, generate reports, and design processes to increase inventory accuracy and team productivity.
- Provides leadership and assists in planning temporary labor. Oversees and approves all temp work and overtime needs.
- Works with warehouse teams to optimize layouts, picking / packing strategies, processes / standards and works with the DCs managers on a plan to implement and monitor compliance.
- Reviews and assists the DCs managers in assessing workload, dealing with situations that require additional resources, and HR related needs and issues.
- Provide regular updates, reports, and presentations to the executive leadership team on distribution center performance, challenges, and strategic initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES
Essential Skills & Experience
- Prior distribution P&L ownership. Operations Executive with experience leading distribution operations in a high volume, small orders, mostly parcel shipping environment utilizing KPIs to track performance.
- Strong familiarity with FedEx / UPS parcel shipping capabilities is essential.
- Proven track record of implementing performance improvement programs in a multi-site DC network including the ability to teach and foster a Continuous Improvement mindset to drive incremental improvements.
- Experience in a fast-paced, complex environment to drive EBITDA growth.
- Demonstrated a transformation mindset with financial acumen to drive enterprise value through multiple operational levers in a predominately mass-market wholesale model.
- An advanced degree in business administration, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven capabilities of identifying and developing talent to build high functioning teams to deliver results.
- A clear communicator with proven ability to articulate a vision, gain buy-in from the team and drive change in an ambiguous environment.
- Strong Experience setting up new DCs, consolidating DCs, WMS implementation & automation to drive productivity up and reduce operating cost
