Middle Georgia State University (MGA), a multi-campus, baccalaureate and graduate degree granting public institution, is the most affordable public state university in Georgia. Job Summary
As part of the Annual Giving team, the Assistant Director will support the University's mission by increasing donor participation to the Annual Fund. The Assistant Director of Annual Giving will assist in the execution of a strategic approach to all Annual Giving programming including developing communications for internal and external groups, updating digital channels (website and giving platforms), engaging alumni, and supporting giving societies.
Responsibilities
Duty 1 -
Supports all the strategic initiatives of Annual Giving, including solicitation, engagement, and communications projects.
Duty 2 -
Maintains a portfolio of approximately 50 annual giving prospects for qualification, cultivation and solicitation of annual support, with an emphasis on upgrading unrestricted annual gifts.
Duty 3 -
Partners with major gift officers to provide critical coordination for efforts that combine annual and leadership giving to effectively contribute to the University's long-term success and sustainability.
Duty 4 -
In collaboration with the Director of Annual Giving and the Director of Alumni Relations, assists with cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of Alumni Board members and other volunteers to make gifts to the University. Assist in coordinating volunteers as needed for Giving Days and Alumni Reunions as needed.
Duty 5 -
In collaboration with the Director of Annual Giving and the Director of Alumni Relations, assists with organizing and coordinating university-wide special events that are consistent with the strategic focus and image of the university.
Duty 6 -
Manages the programs and vendors that engage alumni with the institution and provide value to the MGA Foundation.
Duty 7 -
Supports giving society/program initiatives to systematize solicitation plans and content creation for stewardship materials.
Duty 8 -
With guidance from the Director, participates in the planning and execution of campaign creation for targeted segments of donors and potential donors.
Duty 9 -
Assists with matching gift outreach efforts to create a personalized approach with the goal of increasing retention of donors and funds raised.
Duty 10 -
In partnership with the Director of Annual Giving, manage work through an annual plan for online annual giving activities and solicitations.
Duty 11 -
Report on and analyze metrics, including online open rates, unsubscribe rates, giving society/program results and trends, reunion fund initiatives, challenges encounters, and proposed solutions.
Duty 12 -
In partnership with Advancement Services Coordinator, develop reports, create and manage lists through querying and exports within the Raiser's Edge NXT database as a power-user within the team.
Duty 13 -
Gathers, records and properly stores information about prospects and donors utilizing the Raiser's Edge database, documenting all solicitations in a complete and timely fashion.
Duty 14 -
Attends and participates in University Advancement meetings.
Duty 15 -
An important emphasis will be on alumni and community engagement of the Dublin-Laurens County region.
Duty 16 -
Other duties as may be assigned by Director of Annual Giving.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Required Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years (direct or equivalent) experience in annual giving, fundraising or similar experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledgeable of donor database, contact management and tracking systems, preferably Raisers Edge
Knowledge of development and fundraising program principles and best practices.
Knowledge of marketing principles and methods.
Knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the solicitation and securing of major gifts.
Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to prioritize workload in a timely manner to complete assignments with many deadlines and competing requirements.
Skill in collaborating with multiple constituents.
Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.
Skill in decision-making and problem solving.
Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Ability to manage an active portfolio of 50 major gift prospects in all aspects of the development cycle
Ability to develop, maintain and grow interpersonal relationships with university alumni, donors, friends, corporate partners, administrators, faculty, and staff.
Ability to communicate well, and build rapport quickly with alumni, donors, faculty, and colleagues.
Willingness to be hands-on in a role that is demanding and requires a high level of energy and professionalism.
