Midland Trust is looking for a driven Business Development Associate in our Fort Myers office. Candidates should have an interest in the financial services industry. Midland’s primary services include Self-Directed Custody and 1031 Exchanges. Midland is an established company with locations in Fort Myers, Sioux Falls, and Chicago but solicits business nationwide. This position will be located in Fort Myers and may include occasional travel. The role is a mixture of outside and inside sales with the ultimate goal of generating new business for the company. 


The value you will deliver:


  • Become an expert in self-directed IRAs, 1031 Exchanges, and our fund custody offering
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the alternative investment industry
  • Assist with the identifying and qualifying of new business opportunities by assisting with our daily intel report and direct outreach
  • Proactively engage opportunities for new business. 
  • Work closely with the entire sales and marketing team to learn from teammates on best practices
  • Attend industry trade shows, seminars, conferences, and networking events (some nights/weekends)


The background and expertise you bring:


  • Bachelor’s Degree required & 3 Years of relevant work experience
  • Understanding and experience running a sales campaign (Salesforce and Hubspot CRM)
  • Demonstrated experience in versatility and a nimble business mind with a focus on organization, efficient productivity and development of creative solutions
  • Interest in the financial sector including advisers, financial planning, asset management programs, and private placement funds
  • Must be strategic, flexible, tenacious, result-oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including formal presentation skills
  • Confidence, diplomacy, maturity, and business savvy are required to effectively facilitate dialogue and decision making as well as influence, engage and build relationships with a professional demeanor
