Responsibilities
- Minimum of two years experience working as chairside assistant
- Chairside Assistance: Assist the dentist during dental procedures, including handing instruments, suctioning, and providing patient comfort.
- Patient Care: Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and ensure a clean and organized environment for patient care.
- X-Ray Imaging: Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the dentist and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Patient Education: Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-operative care instructions, and treatment options.
- Records Management: Maintain accurate patient records, treatment history, and dental charting in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Infection Control: Follow strict infection control protocols, including sterilization and disinfection of instruments and surfaces.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of dental equipment and assist with ordering supplies.
- Appointment Scheduling: Assist with scheduling patient appointments, confirming appointments, and managing patient records.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the dental team to ensure efficient patient flow and support colleagues as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a dental assisting program preferred.
- Dental Assistant certification in accordance with state regulations (if required).
- X-ray certification (if required by state).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Knowledge of dental procedures and instruments.
- Understanding of infection control protocols and OSHA regulations.
- Compassion for patient comfort and care.
