POSITION INFORMATION:
The Parts Counter Sales position uses their expertise to assists both internal and external customers with their truck parts needs. Identifying what parts are needed based on vehicle, vin, and customer’s request. Assisting customers in identifying what is needed based on customers description of vehicle symptoms, suggesting additional related parts that the customer will need to complete the repair. Locating parts needed when not in stock. Delivering exceptional customer service.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Look up and determine parts needed using all available resources.
- Quote, price, and sell parts to customer.
- Locate parts needed when not in stock.
- Provide customers both internal and external options for parts not in stock, including additional part costs, freight, and eta so customer can make determination of how they would like to order.
- Arrange delivery for freight shipments for customer to receive product.
- Determine method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
- Affix shipping labels on packed cartons.
- Follow up with customers via telephone and or email when special order parts arrive.
- Notify Inventory Control Management with any stocking or pricing concerns.
- Note: Parts pricing is fixed, overrides require Parts Department management approval.
- Keep display areas stocked, clean, and orderly facing bins and displays.
- Cleaning work area and customer area, ensuring we present the best image to the customer and a safe environment.
- Assisting in cleaning and maintaining parts department including display areas, counter areas, office areas, warehouse, exterior of parts department and warehouse, company parts vehicles.
- Assist in checking in stock, stocking shelves, straightening shelves.
- Unpack and examine incoming shipments, identify damaged items mark bill of lading "damaged", record shortages, and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Notify inventory control of all shipment issues.
- Notify appropriate Counterman, Salesman, or Parts Manager of any customer shipment that did not get shipped when expected.
- Notify Parts Manager of any Stock shipment or Stock transfer that does not get shipped immediately.
- Assist in routing wholesale parts drivers, providing prompt, and accurate deliveries to wholesale customers.
- Assist others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments.
- Receive incoming stock and special orders from Parts Driver and process.
- Receive parts returns from parts driver. Verify part, quantity, and sale ability.
- Assist, as needed, in the delivery or retrieval of parts or equipment using company vehicle.
- Follow and uphold parts department access policies and maintains a secure, theft free environment.
- Write legibly and record all information accurately, to include date order was received, date order was checked off, and any shortages.
- Coordinate, process, and ship Core returns to manufacture and reconcile returns to shipments
- Coordinate with Inventory Control on Core claims.
- Maintain Warranty parts being held in a secure and organized area, following company guidelines.
- Coordinate, process, and ship Warranty returns to manufacture and reconcile.
- Keep Parts Manager informed of all problems.
- Participates in the preparation of taking physical inventories and cycle counts.
- Complete all training, both dealership and manufacture, assigned or required by scheduled date.
- Must follow all Company safety policies and practices, and immediately report any and all accidents to a manager or Supervisor.
- Follow company handbook policies and procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
DRESS CODE/UNIFORM:
This position requires the individual to always wear the company uniform when at work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. Valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Class E drivers license(based on requirements of your issuing state) and DOT medical. Ability to interpret vendor catalogs. Ability to use parts department computer systems, calculator, motor vehicle, forklift and hand trucks. Ability to use mechanical tools such as crimper, pliers, wrenches, and tape measure. Ability to lift, carry and retrieve truck parts and heavy components.
Working Conditions:
This is a physically demanding position. Will stand six to eight hours per shift. Will lift and transport parts weighing up to 100 pounds several times a day. Will be exposed to noise, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials. Will be required to always wear dealership Parts Department uniform while working.
