We are a law firm that provides legal services and guidance to family and immigrants for matters such as visa applications, green cards, citizenship and naturalization, deportation issues, and employment for non-citizens.
Bilingual Paralegal Job Duties:
- Greets and screens visitors in person or on the telephone, in both Spanish and English; responds to inquiries on matters such as the status of pending cases and upcoming court dates.
- Schedules and arranges client meetings and maintains attorney’s calendar by planning, recording and monitoring court appearance dates, pleadings, and filing requirements.
- Organizes and maintains physical and digital filing systems of all relevant legal documents on current and closed matters/cases.
- Ensures attorney attends meetings on time and with the appropriate documents.
- Performs client intake/interviewing; draft letters and assists in the preparation of court documents.
- Proofreads and corrects prepared materials for correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, format, syntax and content.
- Occasionally translates legal documents/birth certificates and/or other documents from English to Spanish and vice versa.
- Completes work product according to instructions and within the requested time frame.
- Performs job responsibilities and work assigned with minimal to no supervision.
Position Requirements:
- Proficiency in MS Office / Google Suite and MyCase
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Ability to manage priorities efficiently
- Absolute discretion when dealing with confidential matters
- Knowledge of principles and practices of basic office management
Education:
- High school or GED (Required)
- Associate degree (Preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree (Preferred)
- Paralegal Certification (Required)
