The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for managing some of the workforce specific to their project/job site while maintaining a culture of safety on the job site and maintaining the project deliverables.
Responsibilities include sub-contractor relations, client relations, new hire job site orientations, safety management; material ordering, inspections and coordination; layout coordination; quality control inspections; scheduling; management of punch list and close out.
The successful Assistant Superintendent is willing to learn Milhouse procedures, able to operate with little oversight, and wants a career path into a Superintendent or Safety Manager position.
\n- Manage new building construction and remodel projects assigned to you per the Construction Director/Leadership.
- Provide daily job site audits for safety. Institute corrective actions, as required.
- Read and interpret project drawing and specifications.
- Set up and maintain an organized and professional job site office.
- Maintain project files, prepare daily activity reports, and take progress photos.
- Identify critical path issues and address them in a timely manner to keep project on schedule.
- Identify efficient means and methods, pro-actively schedule work, and assist with coordination of sub-contractors.
- Maintain positive relationships with owners and subcontractors.
- Maintain punch lists, ensure corrective actions and work toward project closeout.
- Help to plan and maintain job site logistics, security, and safety.
- Manage and coordinate deliveries, inspections, and team members to meet the project schedule.
- Oversee and verify layouts and MEP coordination.
- Enforce job site safety.
- Maintain workforce badging system.
- Support the Superintendent.
- Preferred:
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
- Bi-Lingual, Spanish Speaking.
- Minimum:
- 5 years related experience in construction management, general contracting, project management, carpentry, labor, or related experience.
- Dependable, self-starter that is adaptable to a changing environment.
- Experience leading safety and creating safety procedures and protocols is integral.
- Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve project issues. Ability to recognize when others are required in the decision-making process.
- Experience performing safety inspections.
- Ability to use a computer, the Internet, and email. Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel.
