Position Summary This position provides a wide variety of workshop based educational curriculum to students in an industrial arts classroom setting. Instructs students, maintains student discipline, and is responsible for student academic achievement. QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelors degree or Masters Degree preferred or industry specific experience preferred. Prior successful experience teaching students in a school setting is preferred. Prior experience working with wood and maintaining a safe environment around equipment is strongly preferred.

Interpersonal Skills: Works well with others and focuses on solving conflict, maintaining confidentiality, listening to others, contributing to building a positive school community, and demonstrating the ability to work successfully with students in grades 7-12. Other Skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond effectively to questions in one-on-one or small group situations with students, parents, and school staff. Ability to read, interpret documents, and maintain safety procedures and regulations in an industrial arts classroom. Demonstrates knowledge of child growth and development.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, and use hands for fine manipulation.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move 25 points and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision. Demonstrated strength and dexterity to operate tools and equipment needed for woodshop classes. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high depending upon student population and activities. The employee is regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather conditions, work near moving parts, tools, and equipment.

The employee may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and sharp objects.
