The Financial Analyst is a remote role that requires periodic travel to our different facilities, reporting to the corporate Commercial FP&A Leader for Mill Rock Packaging. As a financial analyst, you will conduct financial analysis, prepare reports, and provide insights to help drive business decisions. How You’ll Make An Impact
The Financial Analyst is a remote role that requires periodic travel to our different facilities, reporting to the corporate Commercial FP&A Leader for Mill Rock Packaging. As a financial analyst, you will conduct financial analysis, prepare reports, and provide insights to help drive business decisions. This role involves close collaboration with business partners, working with financial data, creating models, and preparing forecasts to support strategic planning and operational efficiency.
A Day In The Life
- Lead the rolling forecasting process – developing templates, managing monthly updates, and implementing business planning software once the organization is ready.
- Collaborate with the business and accounting teams to drive continuous improvement in the forecasting and budgeting process.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for significant deviations from budget/forecast.
- Prepare rolling forecasts, labor reporting, and expense allocations for payroll and benefit costs.
- Manage the 13-week cash forecast process, ensuring accurate and timely projections by analyzing cash collections and disbursements and providing actionable insights to optimize cash management strategies.
- Partner with operations to drive continuous improvement initiatives and support lean manufacturing practices.
- Support the implementation of unified standard costs across all facilities.
- Support daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly board reporting processes.
- Develop Power BI dashboards and KPIs to track and communicate key metrics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive financial discipline and accountability across the organization.
Basic Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience with a passion for data analysis.
- Strong understanding of financial principles and accounting practices.
- Advanced excel skills – proficiency with complex formulas such as XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, SWITCH, and conditional formatting.
- Ability to create complex financial models and summarize for executive leadership and other business partners.
- Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for success in this role.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Results-driven with demonstrated analytical and thinking skills, intellectual rigor and curiosity and problem-solving capability.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to proactively identify and resolve discrepancies and issues.
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal business partners, customers, and suppliers.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, data science, or related field

- Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s in Finance of Data Science) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
- Power BI, SQL, or advanced Excel skills such as Power Query and Power Pivot.
- Reside within a commutable distance of one of MRP’s facilities: Renton WA, Minneapolis-St. Paul MN, Hutchinson MN, South Windsor CT, Aurora CO or Salt Lake City UT
- Experience with financial software and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of data analysis and statistical tools (e.g. R, Python, etc)
- Private equity backed experience
- Experience with merger and acquisition activities, especially systems and process integration.
- Experience working within a multi-site, consumer products, manufacturing company.
- Successful ERP implementation experience.

Pay is based on a variety of complex factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
