GENERAL PURPOSE Assists in the development of product CMF design strategy, and execution of final color, materials, and finishes for production. Supports the integration of the CMF design strategy as related to surface materials and finishes for CMF initiated programs as well as new products and advanced development projects. Provides CMF design support to new product commercialization teams. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Ideates and visualizes CMF design concepts for product and presentations. • Executes established CMF strategy set by CMF Design Director. • Infuses color palette and strategy into CMF programs. Explores color and trend forecasts and applications. • Provides a high level of CMF design support to a specified category(s) to ensure the successful execution of color, materials, and finishes on product. • Collaborates and strategizes with cross functional teams, including design, CMF development, product development, product management and manufacturing throughout the design and development process. • Assists in the design and development of proprietary colors, materials, and finishes. • Supports CMF environmental initiatives related to MillerKnoll’s corporate sustainability goals. • Analyzes and approves color, materials, and finishes in collaboration with CMF development team • Communicates directly with suppliers and vendors. • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives. Education/Experience • Bachelor’s Degree in CMF Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design or Fine Arts; will consider individuals with advanced knowledge gained via extensive cumulative experience. • 3-5 years industry-related experience. Skills and Abilities • Portfolio that demonstrates color, material, and finish (CMF) applied to product categories with story/rationale. • Knowledge of design principles and technical knowledge in area of expertise. • Experienced in CMF manufacturing processes. • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interface with internal design, cross functional product development teams and suppliers. • Understanding of product design, development, and manufacturing process from inception through production. • Ability to identify and solve problems in a creative, participative, and proactive way. • Must be self-motivated, adaptable, flexible, and able to manage multiple parallel-path projects. • Team player - ability to negotiate and build consensus across multiple teams. • Takes initiative to proactively achieve goals and strategies. • Proficient in Adobe Suite, MS Office Suite and KeyShot. • Ability to travel as required.
