Job Summary:
The HR Generalist position at Milton’s Distributing Co. is responsible for directly supporting the day-to-day operation of the Human Resources (HR) department, and providing overall HR service delivery to our most important asset: our employees. This is a true generalist position that acts as both a business partner and subject matter expert, and is involved in all functional areas of HR. While recruitment is primary to the position, other HR responsibilities include: onboarding, employee engagement and communications, employee relations, benefits consultation, performance management, policy advice and development, training and development, offboarding, HR compliance, and employee safety. We are seeking a bi-lingual, people-oriented HR professional who is comfortable working in a non-structured setting, but also adept in helping develop needed structure. This is a full-time, regular, exempt position and is eligible for full benefits.
This position will have an opportunity to work remotely based on project and other work-related needs, but it is essential that this position have onsite presence to be visible to the workforce that is working entirely onsite. The successful candidate can sit in either our Mansfield, MA or Edison, NJ locations. This position reports to the Director, People Operations.
Essential Functions:
- Recruitment - Lead and execute full life cycle recruitment for assigned, open requisitions including: recruitment, sourcing and marketing strategy; sourcing and developing a talent pipeline; candidate and agency engagement; assessment of candidate qualifications; facilitation of the interviewing and evaluation process, and closing/negotiating job offers. Proactively identify recruitment trends and recommend improvements to our sourcing and marketing strategies, service delivery, and processes and procedures.
- Onboarding – Accountable for the onboarding and orientation process, including ensuring standardized execution of tasks for payroll, benefits and IT taking into account differences in role and location, which requires working closely with hiring managers. Serve as main point-of-contact for employee inquiries and helping them navigate onboarding into Milton’s culture and ensure a seamless new hire experience.
- Offboarding - Support the offboarding process including completion of offboarding actions associated with HR and IT including return of company property, exit interview meeting and tracking, internal communications, coordination of final paycheck.
- Employee Engagement - Collaborate with leadership to create and drive employee engagement programs and associated activities, and responsible for executing programs that will enhance engagement and organizational culture. Programs to include employee newsletter, recognition and rewards, employee events, teambuilding events, etc.
- Benefits – Counsel employees with questions about their benefits and troubleshooting of issues; Support employee inquiries and special projects related to our benefit plans and enrollment.
- Performance Management - Provide consultative support to employees and leadership in relation to performance management and employee relations. Triage situations and collaborate with leadership on handling sensitive matters.
- Compliance - Keep abreast of current and changing regulatory landscape, and adhere to laws that govern human resource practices such as EEO, ADA, FLSA, etc.
- Process and procedural improvements - Provides insight into the efficiencies and productivity of HR actions, and advises leadership of improvement opportunities
- Culture and Values - Build lasting relationships and develop rapport with employees at all levels. Take on impactful special projects as needed that are important to the business. Work cross-functionally within a small HR team to wear many hats and help support our organization as we continue to grow.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience required
- 3 years of recruiting experience required
- 3 years of general, applicable HR experience and genuine interest in supporting all functional areas of HR are required
- Fluency in communicating (both verbal and written) in both English and Spanish languages is required. Comfortable with public speaking as we need this position to help communicate important messages to our diverse employee population
- Strong written, communication and time management skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively take a project from ideation through execution – managing timelines, resources, expectations, and deliverables
- Highly Proficient with MS Office products and other application software applications such as HRIS platforms applicant tracking systems, and benefit administration systems.
- Ability to independently lead and manage smaller ad hoc events on own with limited supervision.
- Able to communicate concepts and details across internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage projects from ideation through to completion
- The ability to think strategically and resourcefully to develop new and creative lead generation ideas
- Highly professional; able to use good judgment and maintain a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity
- Ability to adapt to a growing and shifting environment and handle competing priorities.
