Description
Under the direction and management of the Director of Facility Operations, the Security Supervisor manages and directs the security department of the Milwaukee Public Museum. The Museum is a repository for natural and cultural history artifacts and provides exhibits and programs for the public. It is necessary for the person in this position to have an appreciation and knowledge of the security and protection of the natural and cultural history collections of the museum, as well as visitors and staff. The person in this position will ensure a physically secure environment for visitors and staff and the highest possible level of customer service and security within the Museum Facility.
Key responsibilities:

Ensuring the safety and security of the Museum, its property, staff, volunteers, visitors, and collections.

Providing guidance and leadership to a team of diverse individuals across 3 shifts, serving as a resource in times of need.

Consults and collaborates with the Exhibitions and Curatorial Departments, and other operations staff to define security needs for exhibitions, including reviewing the layout of new exhibitions in advance of installation.

Planning, directing, and managing the staff and operations of the Security Department to provide 24 hour-a-day protection and security. This includes the coordination of security personnel for all events, exhibits, and daily operations in a way that ensures the public's safety and the collections protection.

Management of the implementation and testing of safety and disaster preparedness programs and procedures for the Museum. This includes providing staff with information and updates on the interpretation and application of security policies and procedures.

Have flexibility to manage a team of Security Officers across 3 shifts, 24/7, 365 days a year.

Enjoy working collaboratively with other departments such as Collections, Facilities, and other Operations staff to ensure the proper security, safety, and storage of collections items.

Consistently stay updated on security best practices and proactively implement procedures as necessary/able.

Are willing to consult on contract requirements from lending institutions to ensure security requirements are met. This may involve recommendations of security devices and/or procedures to meet the changing needs of exhibitions.
