Mind Works specializes in children between the ages of 3 to 17 years and their caregivers. This is accomplished through an integrated healthcare approach to treatment that includes psychological, educational, developmental assessments; evidenced based psychotherapy; and medication assisted treatment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain an open line of communication with care providers, patients, and their family members to efficiently address billing concerns
- First point of contact with existing and new patients
- Patient appointment scheduling of new and existing patients
- Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient's arrival; reviewing service delivery compared to schedule; reminding provider of service delays
- Treatment authorization coordination with health plans
- HIPAA privacy and security compliance standards
- Legal, Ethics and records requests
- Chart and records management
- Provider scheduling coordination
- Telephone communications with patients, providers, and health plans
- Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information; recording and collecting patient charges; controlling credit extended to patients; filing
- Maintain patient accounts, recording and updating personal and financial information
- Verifies, obtains, and applies patient insurance benefits to the visit
- Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records
- Maintains operations by following desktop procedures
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results
- Maintain business office inventory and equipment
- Mail management
- Facility management
- Patient safety and comfort
- Professionally interact with patients and insurances companies regarding sensitive financial matters and recapture unpaid balances
- Resolves patient billing inquiries; initiates adjustment requests as necessary
- Follow up on zero payment explanations of benefits and exercises all options to obtain claim payments
- Provides support for inquiries on account
- Adhere to Federal HIPAA Regulations and willing to sign a Confidentiality Agreement
- Performs other front desk duties as assigned
Qualifications Required:
- Medical reception/billing and collections experience in a medical facility setting
- Knowledge of governmental insurance plans (Tricare) and commercial insurances (PPO, HMO, EPO, HRA, etc)
- Strong working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records
- Medical office experience: 2 years (Preferred)
- Experience with TherapyNotes (Preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of Eligibility & Benefits inquiries with Availity (Preferred)
- Working knowledge of New Patient Paperwork
- Experience with HIPAA privacy and security
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe PDF
