What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Associate position at Miners Gems?
The Jewelry Sales Associate/Greeter greets potential customers and attempts to persuade them to browse and purchase jewelry. This position requires assertiveness, exceptional customer service, tenacity, and the ability to influence customers’ purchases.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Approach – Any and All customers passing by kiosk and provide information about jewelry.
- Encourage and push – All customers to visit shop.
- Show them a product as soon as possible
- Communicate any sales, discounts or specials to customers and potential customers
- Promote the brand to customers and potential customers by handing out product information, flyers, cards, etc.
- Communicate with the Manager or Closer about a sale before the customer walks away so they can come in and help the sales process.
- Work on the add on sale with your manager
- Answer all customer questions about any jewelry including prices, stones, settings, cuts, etc.
- Lead customers through the buying process by boxing, wrapping, and bagging their purchases.
- Assist the cashier by providing pricing information according to weight (in cases of gold and silver jewelry) and processing cash and credit card transactions
- Educate customers about warrantees and guarantees and ensure that all documentation is included with the bagged product
- Send out thank you notes to customers and keep them in the loop regarding new arrivals
- Clean the glass counters periodically, arrange displays on a regular basis to ensure that jewelry and displays are straightened out and ensure that all counters are properly locked and secured
- Ensure that all pieces of jewelry are locked up in assigned storage palaces at the end of the day
- Properly operate cash register and maintain all financial transactions
- Do Inventory counts at designated times
- Ensure security of all jewelry while engaging and showing jewelry to customers
Required Education and Experience:
- Possession of a High School Diploma
- 1-2 years’ experience in retail sales
- Must have computer skills, especially in Microsoft Word, Excel, PPT
- Must be able to maintain a high level of decorum when handling customers
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Possession of an associate degree
- 3 years’ experience in retail sales

- Must be able to always dress professionally
- Possess excellent communication skills in both spoken and written forms
- Must be able to stand for a long period of time during business hours
- Must be able to take initiatives without being prodded
- Must be very enterprising
- Must have the ability to satisfy customers
- Must be able to perform basic financial calculations
- Excellent organizational skills will be required
- Possess great interpersonal skills with the ability to work under intense pressure to achieve set goals
- Exceptional sales skills will be an added advantage
- Excellent customer service skills will be of great importance
- Excellent attention to detail will be a key requirement
- Must have a persistent attitude to be able to convince hesitant customers to make purchases.
