Organizational Function: Manager/ Front Line Supervisor
PURPOSE:
Work alongside facilities assistants to ensure the cleanliness of all buildings across Minnetrista’s 40-acre campus. Facilities include a 40,000 sq. ft. museum building, historic buildings, and additional staff/public buildings. Supervise the work activities of facilities assistants and night supervisor to ensure clean and orderly buildings. Handle set-up and tear down for internal and external events in collaboration with other staff and departments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Have 3-5 years of facilities management, janitorial supervision, or related field experience; museum/gallery experience preferred.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and leadership abilities; strong verbal and written communication skills required.
- Be self-motivated with strong attention to detail and organization, dependable, able to prioritize tasks for self and team.
- Work well with others regardless of age or background as a hands-on supervisor.
- Understand OSHA guidelines and working with Material Safety Data Sheets.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Outlook, and databases; experience with Altru (or other Blackbaud products) and Allseated (or other event planning software) is a plus.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead, organize, coach, and train staff while working alongside them to accomplish tasks.
- Create and manage staff schedule to provide adequate coverage; may adjust team members’ schedules to assist during daytime and/or nighttime hours to meet institutional demands.
- Identify and develop training for self and team with a goal of continuous improvement.
- Follow up to ensure all buildings are cleaned and maintained to a high standard.
- Work with VP of Collections and Storytelling to understand appropriate cleaning processes and/or maintenance for historical buildings.
- Work with Assoc. Director of Experience Design to understand appropriate cleaning processes and/or maintenance of exhibition components.
- Identify and promptly report any building issues to appropriate staff; resolve hazards in a timely manner.
- Ensure that all room, event and program set ups are accurately completed in a timely manner, taking institutional activities into account.
- Create and follow up on the completion of the daily checklist; document routine inspections.
- Work with supervisor to set and maintain annual department budget.
- Order janitorial supplies and retain files of Safety Data Sheets for each product per OSHA regulations.
- Set up, tear down and properly store AV equipment as outlined by the Technical Manager.
- Participate in regular training on safe operation of all lifts, utility vehicles and golf carts.
- Perform all other duties required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is both indoors and outdoors. Travel is required between buildings in all weather conditions.
Work schedule flexibility is critical; will need to work evenings and weekends and be able to move about the entire Minnetrista 40-acre campus. Must be able to work in an office environment as well as various other spaces and storage areas. Additional physical requirements are standing and climbing stairs for extended periods of time on any work day. Possibility of some exposure to hazards and moderate to high noise levels. Typical responsibilities of general maintenance required including pushing, pulling, carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping, crawling, and crouching. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. At times must be able to work with a seven-day work schedule with various hours. A valid driver’s license is required.
