Position Summary of the Unemployment Specialist
The Unemployment Specialist overall objective is to oversee/manager unemployment claims for various clients. You will handle every step from managing incoming calls and data entry, filing appeals, hearing participation, to sending reports and mail support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Unemployment Specialist
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Answering phones.
  • Back-up for Unemployment Manager as needed.
  • Sorting and routing incoming and outgoing company/departmental mail and faxes.
  • Assistance with training of new and/or current employees as deemed necessary by the Unemployment Manager.
  • Manager of assigned accounts:
  • completing state forms
  • appeal determinations
  • hearing preparation/participation
  • inputting of claims, and
  • processing/sending client reports
  • Processing and mailing verifications of employment for internal company
  • Processing and mailing/faxing verifications for various clients
  • Coordinate and process subpoenas with Unemployment Manager along with company attorney
  • Responsible for processing global search reports for unemployment department
  • Responsible for outgoing mail at the end of the day
  • Assisting with 2nd Floor Receptionist coverage when needed
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) of the Unemployment Specialist

  • High School Diploma
  • Proficient in MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Exceptional work ethic, energy, and drive.
  • 3-4 years office experience
  • Ability to work independently or with a team’
  • Demonstrates alignment with company's code of ethics.

Physical Demands and Work Environment of the Unemployment Specialist

  • Sitting for long periods of time.
  • Continuous viewing from, and inputting data to, a computer.
  • Telephone and face-to-face conversations.
  • Travel/drive, as needed, to visit customers/potential customers.
