Position Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for the overall accounting function of the organization and the organization’s 5 locations and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The Accounting Manager will develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the CEO and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations. The Accounting Manager will ensure accurate data entry and accounting procedures and support with the long-term budgetary planning and costs management, ensuring alignment with Mis Amigos’ strategic plan.

Mis Amigos Spanish Immersion is a privately-owned, for-profit company with 4 locations across Twin Cities with almost 100 staff members. With over 20 years of experience, Mis Amigos has a strong reputation for providing high quality childcare where children are loved and protected so parents can go to work without worrying about their children. Our typical customers speak English at home and their children will enter kindergarten above grade level and bilingual. Learning a second language at such a young age is a gift. Objectives:
- Build and manage the necessary team and structure for successful month-end close, internal management reporting, financial planning and analysis, and timely monthly reporting.
- Oversee routine accounting functions, including daily, monthly, and year end activities including payroll, receivables, payables and subsidy billing.
- Oversee all coordination with professional service firms and will have the ability to continue to scale and grow as the portfolio company matures.
- Develop and manage financial controls and SOPs.
- Monitor financial performance by measuring and analyzing results, initiating corrective action, and minimizing the impact of variances.
- Financial analysis and development of financial models for budgeting and new projects.
- Establish and maintain relationships with external business partners, such as banking, accounting, legal, commercial insurance, IT, and benefit providers.
- Accounting for real estate development, management, and financing.
- Adhere to the law and company’s policies.
- Update job knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintain personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
Competencies:
- Strong working knowledge of debits and credits
- Strong working knowledge and experience working with QuickBooks Online, including the class system used for the various locations
- Allocation of administrative overhead
- Ability to work closely with third-party vendors and business partners

- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting
- Ability to support with tax preparation with 3rd party tax accountant(s)
- Financial planning and strategy

- Communicates succinctly in written form as well as orally.
- Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheets
Education & Experience:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Big Four firm experience a plus.
- Prior experience as an Accounting Manager.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in accounting and financial management practices
- Proficiency in MS Office products and accounting software.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Travel required 2-4 times a year.
