Job Title: Managing Director
FSLA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Executive Director
Supervision: Program Manager, Custodian, Program Manager, Program Coordinator, Program Support Staff, Teaching Artists and Program Outreach Support Staff, Bookkeeper, On-Call Support, Temporary Help Agency employees (e.g., Arriba Juntos, SF Transitional Work Program, etc.), Temporary/Casual/Contracted Labor, Volunteers.
Salary Range: $75,000 - $100,000
Job Purpose:
The Managing Director at MCCLA oversees daily operations, allowing the Executive Director to focus on infrastructure, strategic planning, fundraising, public relations, and partnerships. Key responsibilities include non-profit compliance, human resources, payroll, facilities, security, logistics, finance, IT, retail, venue rentals, and event management. This role supervises a cross-functional team, ensuring adherence to regulations and collaborating with the Executive Director on fundraising. Essential duties involve working with the Program Manager to develop policies, manage operations, and allocate resources. Regular and reliable attendance is crucial.
Key Responsibilities:
• Financial Management
- Supervise financial operations, including accounting, reporting, and compliance.
- Collaborate on budgets, grant reports, and strategies to increase funding.
- Oversee retail operations, sales, and venue rentals.
- Ensure the security and confidentiality of MCCLA's records.
• Facilities Management
- Manage facility maintenance, repairs, and compliance with safety standards.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for essential services.
- Oversee security, building access, and emergency response programs.
- Manage MCCLA's relocation and off-site storage needs.
• Supervision
- Recruit, orient, and manage staff, including program managers, teaching artists, and support staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide training, and handle HR policies.
- Support the development of compensation and benefit packages.
- Administer employee discipline and grievance processes.

Education and Experience:
• Minimum of ten years of experience in people and operations management, with previous experience managing a non-profit institution, advocacy, arts administration, or public policy organization, and at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Experience in assessing and scaling organizations, developing infrastructure, and overseeing program development and evaluation.
• Skilled in collaborating with the leadership team to make important decisions while balancing the competing needs of MCCLA, the community, and funders.
• Proven track record in staff development, team management, and facilitation of inclusive and innovative practices.
• A thought leader, engaged communicator, and strategic planner with ability to see disparate points of view.
• Emotionally intelligent with a collaborative leadership style, an open mind, and an eagerness to learn.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and advocate for the needs and desires of diverse groups of community members, organizationalleaders'’ partners, and stakeholders.
• Must be fully bilingual in English/Spanish.
• Experience working with Latinx intergenerational immigrant community.
• Experience and familiarity with non-profit financial practices.
• Detail-oriented, flexible, and able to manage multiple demands and prioritize effectively.
• Excellent attention to detail and proficiency in written and verbal communication.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace and MS Office Suite (especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
• Conflict resolution skills.
• Evening and weekend work required.
• Regular and consistent attendance is required.
• Degree in non-profit management or business administration preferred. Related field and years of experience in relevant roles, including supervisory responsibility.
