What are the responsibilities and job description for the Carrot Harvester position at Missoula Grain and Vegetable Co?
We are looking for a few temporary harvesters to join us for the next 2 weeks to 1 month, part-time, Monday-Thursday. Hours are 9am-5/6pm with a 1hr 15 min lunch break. Extra organic produce from the farm is available in addition to the hourly wage. Total weekly hours could range from 10-32 hrs.
Work includes piling carrots on the crop beds, topping carrots into bags, picking up bags and putting in the truck and/or on the tractor, piling bags into macro bins in the cooler.
Prior experience working on farms is not required, but past experience working on farms, doing sustained physical labor, and working outside is helpful. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. This position requires you to work outside, rain or shine. Waterproof footwear such as muck boots is recommended, closed-toe shoes are required. We recommend you wear pants, long-sleeve shirt, and hat to protect yourself from the sun, as well as appropriate dress for the weather conditions. Please bring multiple layers to keep warm and dry. We have some extra rain gear, but we recommend you bring your own to work each day in case of weather. Do not bring your dog to work. Due to Covid, we do wear masks when working inside our wash station, as we are in close contact with each other for a sustained time period. We have extra masks but you are welcome to bring your own, of course.
This is a temporary position that will end by the end of October/first week of November.
