What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker position at Missouri Delta Medical Center?
FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
1. Lubricates, cleans, performs preventive maintenance as necessary on any and all hospital equipment and buildings.
2. Builds or assembles new equipment to be used in the Medical Center complex.
3. Maintains and repairs stationary steam boilers and related equipment, using hand-tools and portable power-tools.
4. Performs daily inspection of boilers, pipelines, and operating equipment for steam, water, air and fuel leaks or defective parts.
5. Observes equipment to detect malfunctioning units.
6. Direct cleaning of boiler and boiler furnaces.
7. Inspects and repairs boiler fittings, such as safety valves, regulators, automatic control mechanisms, water columns, and auxiliary machines, such as pumps, draft fans, stokers, and burners.
8. Replaces damaged boiler tubes and plates.
9. Repairs and replaces high-pressure piping. May patch insulation with cement.
10. Refers to manuals and specifications in determining and correcting malfunctions.
11. Obtains replacement parts from storage or prepares requisition for their purchase.
12. Notifies Plant Superintendent when boiler sections are in need of repair requiring outside services and when boiler is cleaned, repaired, and ready for any state or regulatory inspection.
13. Performs tasks during irregular hours for the patient connected maintenance technician.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High school graduation or equivalent with shop courses.
EXPERIENCE: Up to three months on-the-job training to learn location of equipment, supplies and organization layout.
SPECIAL:
PATIENT CONTACT: Minimal.
PHYSICAL:
STANDING: Majority of 8 hour shift spent standing.
WALKING: Must be able to move throughout the hospital in the course of an 8 hour shift.
LIFTING: Work involves lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Reaches for and handles tools and equipment parts.
VISUAL: Near-visual acuity for reading blue prints and specifications.
HEARING: Subject to noise from machinery.
Days, Mon-Fri, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
