The Development Assistant of Missouri Girls Town is responsible for working with the Development Officer to raise funds through various means, maintaining donor databases, and for ensuring the planning, developing, and execution of Special Events
The Development Assistant reports to the Development Officer of Missouri Girls Town.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure accurate data entry, tracking, and reporting of donations and assisting the Development team
2. Responsible for coordinating silent auctions for Missouri Girls Town’s events including, but not limited to, Happy Hour for Hope, Fall Festival, and Patron Breakfast
3. Maintain a historic spreadsheet of amounts raised through silent auctions and events.
4. Coordinate the primary special events supervised by the Development Officer
5. Research, develop, and construct timelines for new special events that build the Missouri Girls Town fundraising efforts
6. Assist the Development Officer in entering all donations into the database in a timely fashion
7. Prepare a donation report on contributions received
8. Maintain the donor database and make donor profile edits as assigned. Ensure the changes are accurate and free of typos.
9. Work with all staff for any special events that may require special assistance.
10. Work with the Development Officer on promotional materials and verifying that all supplies associated with this task are available to ensure survivors/donors receive the recognition promised for their contributions
11. Solicit cash, in-kind donations, or sponsorships from individuals and business donors
12. Collaborate with the Development Officer to develop strategies to encourage new sponsorship and increase donations
13. Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications/ Requirements
1. Prefer a minimum of two (2) years of office experience, accounting, and/or fundraising experience
2. High school diploma required
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google platform and Windows
4. Computer literacy: General knowledge of computers and software is necessary, including word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, and planning tools
5. Problem Solving and Reasoning Ability: Ability to resolve problems in a timely manner and deal with a variety of situations where organization is required
6. Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and timelines.
7. Language Skills: Ability to clearly deliver and receive communications in written and verbal formats to new and “seasoned” donors as well as the public
8. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
9. Teamwork: The ability to work as part of a team and independently. This position is broadly overseen by the development officer that travels frequently. The incumbent will be a self-starter and driven to meet the financial needs of the organization.
Environmental/Working Conditions
Ability to work with the clients both inside and outside at all times of the year. Hours outside normal business hours are required. This is a non-exempt position according to the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act).
