\\WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The Northern Great Plains Rangelands Program Director (Program Director)will facilitate cross-state coordination among TNC, rancher-ledcoalitions, individuals, and other partners to support the North AmericaAgriculture Program. The Program Director will build and expand thecurrent relationships with producer groups and the conservation partnersin the region and collaboratively identify needs, opportunities, andstrategies for keeping the ranching community and economy healthy.TheProgram Director will lead projects and develop products across stateand international boundary\'s that add value to the grazing community atthe regional scale. Additionally, the Program Director will connect thefour TNC Chapters of the NGP (South Dakota/North Dakota, Nebraska,Montana and Wyoming), the North America Regenerative Grazing and, asneeded the North America Regenerative Row Crop strategies withappropriate partners in the region to scale improved managementpractices. The Program Director will de-incentivize grassland conversionby collaboratively identifying and developing tools that level theplaying field between grazers and row-crop agriculture and developand/or support partner efforts to transfer ranch ownership to the nextgeneration. They will also provide a nexus between rancher groups andTNC corporate partners to test and implement improved managementpractices while also improving the economic, ecologic, and social valueproposition within the beef supply chain.
RESPONSIBILITIES and SCOPE
- Facilitates and develops cross-boundary work and relationships withTNC operating units, rancher-led coalitions, conservation partnersand industry.
- Collaboratively develops innovative risk-management tools andpolicies for adoption by the ranching industry
- Coordinates with business units and Science teams to accelerateadoption of Integrated Ranch Management Plans throughout thenorthern Great Plains.
- Convenes rancher-led coalitions and local agricultural lenders toidentify and develop programmatic solutions to incentivizeregenerative practices amongst ranchers.
- Engages with Indigenous communities where possible to build newpartnerships.
- Leads and/or contributes to supply chain projects in the region toinfluence mechanisms toward measurable outcomes.
- Establish and maintain optimal standards of performance for theprogram while controlling costs and administering budgets.
- Responsible for ensuring that public and private funds are raised tomeet program needs.
- Frequently makes independent decision based on analysis, experience,and context.

\\WHAT YOU\'LL BRING
- BA/BS degree and 5 years\' experience in conservation practice orequivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience managing complex or multiple projects, includingstaffing, workloads, and finances under deadlines.
- Supervisory experience, including motivating, leading, settingobjectives and managing performance.
- Experience in partnership development with non-profit partners,community groups and/or government agencies.
- Experience negotiating.
- Demonstrated experience influencing, developing, and implementingconservation policy and plans.
- Knowledge of current trends and practices in relevant discipline(s)and regions.
- Knowledge of methods and standards of biodiversity informationsystems and initiatives or related field.
- Communicating clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means inEnglish and other relevant languages.
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising.
- Politically savvy.
