What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Supervisor position at MIT Federal Credit Union?
ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR, MIT Federal Credit Union (MITFCU), to report to the accounting manager and supervise the daily operations of the Accounting Department. Will ensure that critical daily processes are completed accurately and on a timely basis by the accounting team. The critical daily processes include the posting of all general ledger and core system activity, daily settlement of ATM/VTM and debit card activity, accounts payable, wire transfers, g/l account reconciliation, and reporting. Will also provide guidance and support to the accounting team in the completion of their daily responsibilities; interact with staff at all levels throughout the organization and provide guidance regarding and resolution to problems and issues that relate to the efficient operation of the department and the entire organization in its efforts to best serve the members; and support the accounting manager and the SVP-Finance/CFO on the month-end closing process, internal and regulatory reporting, and other needs.
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in a related field; at least three years’ experience in financial operations, including accounting and account reconciliation; knowledge of accounting principles and relevant federal regulations for specialty areas, including those specific to research and nonprofit organizations; and direct experience with general ledger, reconciliations oversight, A/P, and regulatory reporting. PREFERRED: certified public accountant (CPA).
