The Tactical Networks Group (65) specializes in advanced network and communications systems development, with a focus on mobile and airborne networks of the future. Tactical wireless networks differ from commercial wireless networks in the lack of infrastructure to support stable connectivity. The varied and stressing operational environment, as well as aircraft speeds and maneuverability, and platform integration provide additional challenges to communication and network systems. The Tactical Networks Group uses a combination of technical analysis, modeling, simulation, emulation, prototype development, and flight tests to develop new communication systems and evaluate and predict their performance.
The candidate will assist in the design, development, implementation, modelling, and testing of physical layer signals for transmission and the associated receiver based designs. The candidate should have sufficient knowledge of communications theory and practice in the design of receivers for wireless radios and have experience with the development of system models in MATLAB and/or Simulink modeling environments.
Requirements: M.S. in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in communication systems. A BS and 3-5 yrs experience will be considered. Candidate should have extensive experience with MATLAB programming. Experience with waveform signal processing component development in C/C is also a plus.
Desired Skills: Project work at the college level in modeling communication systems and implementation experience in a software defined radio environment (e.g., JTRS SCA, GnuRadio, or similar).
Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
