We are recruiting for a large scale, Chicago-based, Hospitality Group with an ever-expanding roster of venues that offer extraordinary experiences for their patrons by distinguishing themselves with creative cuisine, cutting-edge design, and superlative service and quality.
They are currently seeking a Payroll Specialist with at least 4 years of experience in high-volume payroll processing. The Payroll Specialist will work alongside Payroll, Human Resources, and Finance and Accounting team members to ensure the accurate and timely compensation of exempt and non-exempt employees in the city of Chicago, Cook County, and DuPage County. The role requires a high level of integrity, the ability to be discreet and maintain confidentiality, and a strong attention to detail. The ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge about payroll laws and regulations, an understanding of payroll tax compliance, payroll software experience, and a customer service mindset.
GENERAL FUNCTIONS RESPONSIBILITIES
- Verify the input and reconciliation of all payroll data such as time entries, tips, wage garnishments, commissions, and benefit deductions.
- Process payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees
- Stay up-to-date on state and federal payroll and tax laws; Ensure appropriate state and local taxes are processed
- Provide bi-weekly payroll reports and analysis to other members of the Finance Team
- Process payroll garnishments and Verifications of Employment
- Answer, research, and solve payroll issues and inquiries quickly and efficiently
- Design, document, and implement procedures to streamline payroll processes
- Conduct regular audits on payroll procedures and records
- Provide data entry support to include processing new hire paperwork, status changes and terminations within the company HRIS platforms
- Assist Payroll Manager with research and projects as needed
REQUIREMENTS
- At least 4 years of experience processing payroll in a high-volume setting (500 employees per week)
- Adept at handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion
- Strong analytical skills and ability to problem solve independently
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues of all levels and take direction well from supervisors
- Proficiency in Excel required
- Experience in ADP Workforce Now preferred
- Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Knowledge of Federal/State wage and tax related laws such as FLSA, FICA, FUTA, etc.
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills
