OVERVIEW & QUALIFICATIONS
Michael Kinder and Sons, a fourth-generation family owned Design-Build Construction Firm is seeking an experienced Field Safety Manager with a minimum of five years of experience in the construction industry. This highly motivated team member will contribute to a growing organization by providing unparalleled customer service and maintaining accurate and dependable job management. Excellent writing, organizational and computer skills (MS Excel, MS Word) required. Successful candidate will be comfortable working independently and with a team of dedicated professionals in a fast-paced office environment.
The Field Safety Manager works with and through management, to ensure compliance with health and safety procedures and to assist in the achievement of profitability and productivity requirements.
This position is responsible for any of the following duties which include but may not be limited to:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review and become familiar with MKS Health, Safety and Environmental Program, Site Specific Safety Plans, client policy and procedures, and must be proficient with applicable local, state, and federal OSHA construction regulations.
- Develop, monitor, and implement the MKS health and safety policy; to ensure the Company is compliant with health and safety legislation; and to reduce or prevent hazards, dangers, and accidents.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with leadership and operations personnel to ensure safety strategies and programs align with corporate expectations and policies. Strategize with management and staff to support and drive a culture that embraces safety, recognizes hazards, and takes action to minimize risk.
- Attend and participate in daily huddles, provide input to effectively communicate preventive measures for potential hazards associated with scheduled tasks, ensure everyone has received MKS Safety orientation.
- Ensure workers are suitably trained. Provide worker instruction/training as required, e.g. PPE, Fall Protection, Ladders, Scaffold, safe work practices, etc.,
- Conduct daily informal worksite safety inspections and bi-weekly formal documented inspections. Follow up on action items that for any reason needed additional time to correct.
- Identify and recognize potential hazards with existing, equipment, products, processes, operations, and procedures. Evaluate and assess the probability and severity of loss events and incidents which may result from actual or potential hazards. Take appropriate action to reduce or eliminate these potential hazards with firmness and tact.
- Prepare safety meeting agendas/safety alerts from observations made throughout job site visits.
- When necessary, take appropriate action to stop work in any area where an observation is made that threatens the health or safety of our employees or the public and assist in restoring area where crew may safely proceed.
- Conduct and/or ensure safety meetings are held in accordance with our program.
- Ensure that project first aid resources are readily available, fully stocked, and meet regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the investigation of all incidents and ensure written reports are completed and submitted as required. Ensure concise and professional reporting.
- Ensure that site personnel are informed of incidents and recommendations or measures to prevent their recurrence.
- Arrange for and/or accompany injured worker(s) to a pre-determined medical facility to ensure proper exchange of information with medical personnel and to accurately confirm injured worker status or condition.
- Complete and submit required injury paperwork, reports, etc., on a timely basis.
- Reduce the probability or severity of injuries, illnesses, losses or environmental damage from potential exposures, accidents, and loss events when hazards cannot be eliminated.
- Reinforce the Safety Awareness Program in a manner that promotes cooperation and improved morale.
- Create a working atmosphere that promotes openness and a high level of enthusiasm and morale in the field.
- Take any other steps necessary to ensure the control of hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee practices.
- Responsible for enforcing the MKS employee progressive disciplinary policy, which involves, verbal reprimands, written reprimands, suspension and up to termination.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but works with MKS team to promote health and safety and enforce policies.
Additional Duties include, but not limited to:
- New Project Set Up (MKS and Safety sign postings)
- Pre-Construction Safety Meetings
- Manage / Provide oversight of the Worker Scan Software Program
- Selective Drive GPS program device management
- Inspect jobsite equipment & machinery bi-weekly – Report issues to mechanic immediately
- Maintain & manage warehouse inventory of safety supplies
- Maintain safety, tool inventory in vehicle and fill out material requests when items are given out on jobs for proper tracking of costs.
- Assist yard/warehouse with material/equipment as needed
