MLee Healthcare has been engaged by a client to recruit a Medical Technologist for their growing team in northern Illinois.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and specialized tests on patient samples, including but not limited to blood, urine, and other bodily fluids, using sophisticated laboratory equipment.
- Analyze test results and interpret findings accurately, ensuring compliance with established quality control procedures and maintaining precise records.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians and pathologists, to discuss test results and provide relevant information for patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, troubleshoot issues, and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Stay updated on new laboratory techniques, technologies, and industry trends, and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Participate in quality assurance programs, proficiency testing, and continuing education activities to maintain knowledge and skills.
- Assist in training and mentoring new laboratory personnel, providing guidance and support as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field for MT; Associate degree or certification for MLT.
- Current certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by a recognized professional organization (e.g., ASCP, AMT).
- Proven experience working as an MT/MLT in a clinical laboratory setting, preferably in a hospital or medical center.
- In-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques, procedures, and regulations, including proficiency in using laboratory equipment and computer systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and evaluate test results accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities, ensuring precise documentation and record-keeping.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, enabling collaboration with diverse healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and handle a high volume of samples while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
