Drafter Job Description
The Drafter is responsible for developing and applying reliable engineering methods, theories, and research techniques during the design of lighting and furniture products. They will investigate and determine manufacturing solutions for the products while also solving technical problems on a day-to-day basis. These problems can be mechanical, structural, or electrical in nature. The Drafter will also provide support for the development of assembly and production systems as a member of the Engineering team.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Create and maintain database of source documents of all current and past fixtures utilizing standard SolidWorks file structure. This will include, but not limited to, all process planning procedures for all in house departments.
- Add to and maintain our library of stocked, purchased, and in house parts and fasteners within Solidworks file structure.
- Collaborative SolidWorks Model creation of Light Fixtures, Furniture, Machine/Fab jigs/fixture, etc.
- Create accurate solid models, prints, and necessary instruction documentation for customization of established fixtures to meet client installation requirements.
- Create necessary documentation for external vendors, including prints with appropriate tolerancing, DXFs, DWGs, etc.
- Collaborative process development and all associated documentation.
- Create, update, and maintain ERP documents.
- Direct communication with clients. Research client inquiries and accurately report back to client.
- Monitor first run job processes, procedures, fixtures, and parts through the shop to ensure accuracy of information provided. Update accordingly when necessary.
- Report directly to Engineering Manager.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- 5 years SolidWorks experience. Proficient in SolidWorks file structure. Basic Modeling, Drawings, Sheet Metal, BOM creation, Part Library, Template configuration is required. Formulas and configuration to manipulate established fixtures.
- 5 years manufacturing processes experience. Fabrication, machining, industrial, molding, job shop etc. are all relevant.
- Excellent Mechanical aptitude.
- Exceptional Technical writing skills.
- Basic electrical knowledge.
- Proficient in Mathematics.
- Well organized and above average attention to detail.
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
- Ability to safely lift 50 lbs.
Preferred Skills
- ERP software experience, Visual Job Shop Preferred
- Ability to use common shop tools such as: Chop saw, Band saw, Table saw, Drill press, Drills, Sanders, etc.
- Spanish Speaking
- Adobe Suite
