Position Title: Technical Writer
Location: Stafford, Virginia
Security Clearance: Secret Clearance
Status: Full-time/Exempt – Contingent Upon Contract Award
At MLT, we create solutions by empowering our people to fulfill their passion for service to our customers. We are seeking a Technical Writer to provide support the Air Command and Control and Sensor Netting (AC2SN). The job details include, but are not limited to the following:
Experience: Four (4) years of professional experience in preparing technical documentation in a program office or similar organization are required. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from an accredited college/university in Communications, English, Business or a related field. This position requires excellent written/oral communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; strong organizational skills, and the ability to perform detail-oriented work under strict deadlines. Along with strong written and oral communication skills, the individual must be proficient in online publishing software and programs, such as Ventura, Word, and Extensible Markup Language, as well as information management. Expertise with customer related regulations, and experience in preparing and editing regulatory documentation submissions. Working knowledge of the customer Requirements and associated Technical Manuals (TMs), the Modification Work Orders (MWOs), defense acquisition process experience is preferred. The position requires the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance

Responsibilities*: Serve as a technical writer, reviewing, proofreading, and modifying technical, documentation; including, but not limited to, system specifications, user manuals, software products, and special reports. Assignments will require current knowledge of and compliance with Military Standards, DA, or DoD technical writing style manuals, format guides, GSA printing regulations, and/or special instructions given by the customer or program offices. The candidate will work with developers, systems engineers, and program managers to drive the scope and direction of product end-user documentation, providing editorial and quality assurance support for documents, functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, reports, training materials, and other customer deliverables to support and/or participate in formal and informal reviews throughout the development cycle. Other duties related to communications, technical writing and/or graphic design may be assigned.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Conduct acquisition strategy research, perform analysis, and assist in drafting and updating documents for the AC2SN Programs; and maintain configuration control on the PM AC2SN SharePoint site
  • Assist the Government in the creation, update, and tracking of acquisition and program documentation including, but not limited to, program briefs, organizational charts, staffing spreadsheets, and other documents
  • Provide technical editing services and review all documents for grammar, spelling, and technical content as it applies to DoD policies; and provide recommended changes
  • Complete initial draft of communications with the workforce in the preparation of the weekly PM AC2SN situation reports (Sit-Reps)
  • Provide technical edits for all decisional or milestone related programmatic documentation, to include Logistics, Engineering, Contracting, Project Management, Finance, etc.
  • Provide services to Project Officers and Program Analysts to achieve day-to-day program management tasks. These tasks include but are not limited to; achieving funding obligation, spend plan management, Integrated Program Management Plans execution, and planning for future concepts and architectures development
  • Provide data management of external organization deliverables from vendors. The Contractor shall perform the following Tasks:
  • Monitoring CDRLs/deliverables from contractor, vendors, and government agencies under contract or under agreement funded by AC2SN
  • Receiving and processing Deliverables
  • Coordinating Government team reviews of deliverables
  • Collecting and consolidating Government team review comments for inclusion into Data Submittal Records (DSRs) for deliverables provided by other entities
  • Returning DSRs to Engineering, SSA and external organizations for action
  • Archiving deliverables (initial submissions and updates), Government team review comments, and DSRs
  • Develop a MP&T Analysis for new Acquisition Programs and or major engineering change proposal efforts, and develop and update MP&T Analysis Reports and MP&T Plans
  • Employ the Marine Corps Systems Command’s MP&T process to MP&T IPT activities
  • Conduct MP&T Analysis, develop MP&T Analysis Reports (MAR), and develop MP&T Plans based on the MAR milestone events
