We are seeking a live-in Maintenance Superintendent for our 107-unit residential garden and scattered property located in Plainfield, NJ. The Maintenance Superintendent will be responsible for common area and apartment repairs in the scope of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry. The Maintenance Superintendent will handle all aspects of the property’s maintenance, interior and exterior building inspections, and preventive maintenance. Customer service is a priority, and attention to detail are critical skills to ensure the satisfaction of our tenants.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Efficiently completes all daily work orders
- Communicates any delays in completing a work order with the supervisor in the management office
- Troubleshoot repair and maintenance issues involving electrical, plumbing, appliances, and carpentry
- Work with the office team to ensure all turn-over repairs and services are completed and on schedule
- Maintain accurate records for preventative maintenance-building mechanicals, service requests, and apartment turn-over status
- Respond to after-hours on-call emergencies
- Stay current on all applicable building codes and safety standards
- Maintain trash
- Assist in the proper clearing of snow during a snow event
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications for this position
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, appliance maintenance, and boilers

- Professional, courteous, and friendly demeanor
- Team-player
- Must have a clean driving record and personal, reliable transportation for on-call emergencies
- Minimum high school education or equivalent
- Experience in multifamily maintenance and experience involving public contact preferred
- Valid driver's license and current vehicle insurance
- Required use of the personal automobile for local job-related travel and pick-up, or ability to drive pickup truck and/or van
