Modco Media, a leader in digital media, is seeking a highly motivated Media Director to join the team!


Compensation: Competitive compensation of $130,000 to $160,000 depending on relevant experience

Location: 100% Remote opportunity with optional flexible workspaces across the United States. HQ in New York, NY.

Hours: 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM EST. Must be willing to work EST hours.

Media Director Role Overview:

The Media Director is responsible for the integrity of all day-to-day operations on the media team. They provide strategic direction and leadership within the media group to deliver the most effective and innovative communications plans that meet the Clients’ respective business goals. They are also responsible for developing career paths and mentoring planning staff, as well as playing an integral role in delivering the agency’s values and goals on a daily basis.

Media Director Responsibilities:

MEDIA STRATEGY AND PLANNING

  • Formulate Communications strategy for client businesses and ensure that recommendations and decisions are consistent with client’s objectives and strategies
  • Assume lead role in integration of client’s media efforts and demonstrate full understanding of client’s businesses as basis for all future work
  • Demonstrate understanding of 3rd party research methodology and how data can be used to shape client conversations
  • Evaluate/approve recommendations and presentations before sending to client, and maintain quality control on daily workflow and media team process
  • Foster an environment which encourages intelligent risk taking, innovation and creativity, and continually seek innovative and breakthrough ideas, approaches and solutions
  • Assume ultimate responsibility for all implemented programs
  • Present innovative, business building media recommendations
  • Keep abreast of current events, media trends and any target market industry trends that impact client business
  • Actively promote agency’s ambition and values to all media partners by establishing strong relationships with key media owners
  • Oversee negotiation of media contracts and programs/opportunities to ensure maximum leverage is applied
  • Ability to collaborate with partner creative agency to foster a holistic media creative approach

TEAM LEADERSHIP

  • Lead Associate(s), Sr. Associate(s) and/or Manager(s) in setting brand strategies and developing media plans
  • Train Manager(s) in media and marketing disciplines as well as the specifics of the Client’s business and industry
  • Accurately, objectively and constructively evaluate performance of Associate(s), Sr. Associate(s) and/or Manager(s) via talent development process
  • Assist in networking, interviewing, hiring, training, mentoring, developing, and evaluating team members

AGENCY GROWTH AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

  • Exhibit ambition by driving agency thought leadership and new business
  • Actively participate in new business pitch presentations
  • Get involved in financial aspects of the account budget, staffing, projections, etc.
  • Review accounts with Director of Client Services to ensure that they are operating profitably and efficiently

Media Director Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college
  • 10 years related media planning experience with a focus on team leadership and management
  • 7 years of digital media planning experience
  • Experience managing media teams of up to 8-10
  • A background in developing strategy and campaign management for financial and/or insurance client(s)

Discipline-Specific Skills:

  • Possess superior project and account management skills, flexibility, resiliency, and the ability to manage multiple expectations through proactive communication, status reporting and scope management
  • Highly skilled at developing and driving media and account strategy
  • Demonstrate proven success leading and growing client business
  • Openly participate in team, agency, and industry initiatives
  • Decisively manage multidisciplinary teams, and possess a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
  • Continually seek and identify innovative and breakthrough ideas, approaches and solutions
  • Demonstrate superior understanding of media fundamentals, conceptual math, and quantitative skills, including analytical abilities and math proficiency
  • Digitally savvy, with specific proficiency at MS Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Exceptional written, verbal, negotiation and presentation skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of employees and clients, with attention to detail and follow-through skills
  • Financial client experience preferred but not required
