The Role
Moderna is seeking a QC Equipment Associate with strong foundation in laboratory equipment operation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting skills. The candidate will be supporting the quality control equipment and instrumentation utilized in laboratory operations by coordinating laboratory equipment acquisition, qualification, calibration, and preventative maintenance. The QC Equipment Associate is expected to work on routine tasks and have a strong foundation in QC functions and business areas. He/She must have demonstrated solid scientific and technical breadth to support laboratory equipment life cycle management at Moderna. He/She will serve as a runner for the QC Equipment team across multiple sites and departments. The candidate will also support deviation, investigation, change control, corrective actions, and preventive actions (CAPAs) related to QC equipment. This role is on-site first shift, Monday to Friday. The QC Equipment Associate will report to the QC Equipment Lead Specialist.

Here’s What You’ll Do:
As part of the QC Equipment team, your primary responsibilities will be as follows:

Support team to investigate and resolve issues related to equipment failures, system deficiencies, deviations, and equipment troubleshooting.

Support authoring quality systems records such as deviations, change controls, CAPAs, OOTs (Out of Tolerance) as required.

Support on-site QC Equipment team activities.

Ordering equipment, supplies, and maintaining inventory for equipment consumables/accessories.

CTU alarm response, calibration and re-qualification coordinating and scheduling.

Assist with locating and collecting assets due for service and returning to laboratory when complete.

Serve as point person in QC for all equipment inquiries and relay to appropriate vendors onsite and externally.

Escort and support vendors to ensure timely closure of work request.

Support QC Equipment team with as-needed non-invasive repairs on UHPLC systems such as changing capillaries, flow cells, needles/seats as well as perform basic troubleshooting.

Coordinate and schedule calibration/maintenance activities with Facilities, Metrology, and QC to ensure timely completion and minimize equipment down time.

Review of preventative maintenance reports, calibration certifications, CMMS records, and perform system inventory audits.

Support equipment lifecycle projects with guidance.

Attending cross-functional meetings.

Other responsibilities to support team projects and proactive initiatives.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

Minimum education required: Bachelor’s degree in sciences and 2-5 years of industry experience in a cGMP laboratory setting

QC Experience 2 years (Preferred)

Proficiency with Smartsheet and Microsoft office

Strong collaboration and organization skills

Capability to make decisions under pressure and escalate issues as needed

Desire to learn equipment lifecycle management

An understanding of GMP/GDP/QC Data interpretation and strong attention to details

Experience in operating various equipment in a QC setting

Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

Ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional matrix environment (QC, QA, Validation, Digital, Vendors) to ensure equipment and digital projects meet timelines

Ability to efficiently prioritize and complete multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment

Details and results oriented

Outstanding ability to multi-task

Strong sense of urgency

Ownership to the projects and commitment to meet the timelines

Solid knowledge of lab safety
